The article I read was about a 43 year old man and his journey through arranged marriage. He was a refugee from North Africa and came to America at the age of 14. He discovered that he had troubles with going out or talking with women so he decided to go back to his home and set an arranged marriage himself. He then came back to America with his new wife and together they had two kids. After a few years both him and his wife came to the conclusion that they weren’t happy. They “were separated emotionally, but lived in the same house” They sought out a divorce but he didn’t know what he would do next about a loved one since “dating websites were no use” to him.
In the play and Romeo and Juliet, Juliet had been put into an arranged marriage towards the end with a man named Paris. She had already been married in secret to Romeo but they agreed not to tell anyone. Juliet then disagrees and fights back and argues with her parents, leaving her dad to banishing Juliet if she did not marry Paris. This ties to the story of the 43 year old man and his arranged marriage because if forced into love, most do not come out happy and together long.
In the world we live in now, we realize that love is natural for us. It is the thought of always having someone to turn to when times are hard for you, to be able to feel safe around someone, and to feel as if you can be yourself around someone you hold dearly to you. This love is not just found in marriages and couples but also in friends and family. As for me, I find my love and appreciation with the people around me such as my parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc. Kids today in schools all around the world experience peer pressure. Kids can get pulled into peer pressure to date someone that they may not like and that is essentially a forced relationship, and I know from most those do not last.
